Fortis watches

The Swiss watch brand Fortis is one of the oldest Swiss watch makers in the world. Since its founding in 1912, Fortis is one of the leading brands in terms of technology, design and quality. The founder of Fortis, Walter Vogt, already knew at the age of 29 that a strong watch brand and a perfectly functioning production are the requirements for world wide success in the growing watch industry. In 1912 Walter Vogt started his own factory in Grenchen, Switzerland.

Fortis as innovative watch brand

Fortis watches are very famous as Fortis was the first brand with water resistant watches. The brand was also the first with a waterproof mechanical alarm chronometer. In the early 1990's Fortis launched the now legendary Flieger watch collection, which is known and loved by watch adepts. The Fortis Flieger watches belong to Fortis heritage and do have a clean design which is appreciated by pilots. 

Fortis in space

After years of development and endurance tests at a physical limit and in open space, the Russian Federal Space Agency ROSCOSMOS named Fortis as the official timekeeper for its space missions. This reflects the quality and durability of Fortis watches. Untill today the watch collection of this Swiss brand has several watch models based on the Russian space projects.
