Why do you need a Swiss Kubik watch winder?

Posted on 20 October 2020 at 3:24 PM

In this blog article we write about Swiss Kubik watch winders. This brand is one of the most famous watch winder brands in the world. Many Breitling, Rolex, Tag Heuer or Epos watches are wound up in a watch winder of this brand. We would like to give you more information about the Swiss Kubik brand, collection and technology. It is an interesting brand that is a good option when you are looking for a watch winder for winding your automatic watches. What advantages does a Swiss Kubik watch winder have? What are the differences between a Startbox and Masterbox? Where can you buy a watch winder of this brand? These are questions that we answer in this blog about Swiss Kubik.

Swiss Kubik Double watch winder

Swiss Kubik describes its watch winders as a perfect cube measuring 10 by 10 by 10 centimeters with ultra-advanced watch winding technology. The shape and compact design are characteristics for the watch winders of this brand. In addition, the brand has a good reputation to uphold in the field of quality and winding technology. The Swiss Kubik watch winders are suitable for easily winding any automatic watch, regardless of brand or model. This means you don't have to worry about a Swiss Kubik watch winder that is suitable for your automatic watch. You place the watch in it and it immediately receives energy, making it always ready to wear. The watch will no longer stop that makes you will have to reset the time and date.

The Swiss brand is constantly improving its products by collaborating with the most experienced Swiss craftsmen and using only beautiful materials. Swiss Kubik watch winders are known for their reliability and performance. The watch winders are designed and produced entirely by hand in Switzerland.

Each Swiss Kubik watch winder is assembled by hand and all suppliers are located no more than 50 km from the factory. It is of great importance to the brand that the suppliers are motivated by the love for a beautiful watch winder. Each of them knows that it is very important to wind an automatic watch safely.

Swiss Kubik is completely in line with the Swiss spirit. This can best be described as respect for tradition and an enormous capacity for innovation. The owner of a Swiss Kubik watch winder can rest assured that he/she owns a quality object for perfect winding of an automatic watch.

Advantages of a Swiss Kubik watch winder

The Swiss Kubik watch winders rotate 1,900 revolutions per day. 950 revolutions in each direction, in both directions. This number corresponds to most automatic watches on the market. Of course you can set the watch winder yourself via bluetooth. This makes you extremely flexible with a Swiss Kubik watch winder and you can wind any watch to your liking.

Thanks to the Swiss made motors, the Swiss Kubik watch winders are completely autonomous for three years. Two simple 1.5 volt alkaline batteries are sufficient to function for this period. The collection consists of two series; the Startbox models as entry-level watch winders and the more luxurious Masterbox watch winders. The latter series of watch winders can also be connected to mains power.

The watch holders that you click into the watch winder are available in two sizes - normal and small. This means that large, normal and small watches fit in the Swiss Kubik watch winder. Nice detail is that each watch automatically positions itself vertically when the watch winder is paused.

As mentioned above, the Swiss Kubik watch winder is 100% Swiss made. This means that the watch winder is completely made in Switzerland. The Swiss motor is top quality and very durable. Another advantage is that the watch winders of this brand are very compact. This is useful if you do not have much space or want to put the watch winder in a safe. Because the watch winder functions for up to 3 years on one set of batteries, you don't have to worry about it. You also don't have to install a power supply in the safe to wind your automatic watches. After three years, you simply change the batteries and the watch winder can last for another 3 years.

The biggest advantage of a Swiss Kubik watch winder is the quality. With such a watch winder you can go for years. Of course this comes at a certain price, but if you compare that to the years of fun you will have, you will probably be cheaper than buying a watch winder that only lasts a few years.

Startbox versus Masterbox

The Swiss Kubik collection has two series, the Startbox and Masterbox models. The Swiss Kubik Startbox watch winders can best be described as entry-level models that do have Swiss technology but are otherwise simple and functional. These models are made of plastic and do not offer luxury such as a protection glass for the watch. This option is available with the Masterbox models. The Startbox models are suitable for winding one automatic watch, while the Masterbox models are suitable for winding 1 to 8 automatic watches. Do you have several automatic watches that you want to wind? Then you automatically end up with the Masterbox series. You can of course also buy several Startbox models. Then you can also spread the watch winders over your living room, bedroom, safe or office.

The watch winders of the Swiss Kubik Startbox collection use fresh colors and modern, refined lines. Simplified to the extreme, these watch winders bring together the essential elements of excitement. Their soft touch surface makes them feel incredibly soft. The Startbox watch winders are very competitively priced and a great watch winder for someone who has one or two automatic watches and wants a simple but good watch winder.

In the Masterbox collection you will find all the leading watch winders that have earned Swiss Kubik its international reputation. They consist of a basic module incorporating the best Swiss technology. and can be endlessly customized with an exterior of the finest material: wood, leather, aluminum, carbon fiber, etc. The complete Swiss Kubik Masterbox watch winder is Swiss made but also made by hand. The Swiss Kubik Masterbox watch winders offer more luxury and a beautiful appearance. Optionally, a plexiglass is also available to protect the watches. The Masterbox models are compact and beautifully finished.

The Startbox watch winders are a bit cheaper than the Masterbox models, but you buy with both absolute Swiss top quality. Both models always come with a 3-year warranty.

Our favorite Swiss Kubik watch winders

Swiss Kubik is a watch winder brand that appeals to us. The quality, Swiss made motors and compact shape are features that distinguish the brand from other brands. As an entry-level model, the Swiss Kubik Startbox in black colour is our favorite. The simple design, the Swiss motor and attractive price make this an ideal watch winder.

This looks beautiful and gives a luxurious and modern look. In addition, you can optionally put a plexiglass on this watch winder. This protects your watch even better against dust and children's hands.

If you are looking for a very chic watch winder for winding 2 automatic watches, we would choose the Swiss Kubik Double Leather Cognac SK02.CV002 watch winder. This model is beautifully covered with high-quality leather in cognac color. This gives the watch winder a very chic look. This allows you to use the watch winder as an eye catcher in the living room, bedroom or in your office. This one will certainly stand out and be the reason for many a conversation! The appeal of automatic watches

Posted on 6 October 2020 at 8:58 AM

As lovers of beautiful watches, we see many beautiful watch brands and models passing by every day. Brands that are known, but certainly also watch brands that are less known. We mainly look at the technology, the design, the appearance and the price. This whole must be in balance. The technology is especially important to us because it largely determines the quality, functionality and price. Design is of course also important, but also depends on taste and personal preference. What we like, our customer may find ugly, and the other way around.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer watch

Automatic, mechanical and quartz watches

You can divide watches into roughly three groups; watches with a quartz movement, with a mechanical movement and with an automatic movement. In terms of technology, we are a special fan of mechanical and automatic watches. Where quartz watches are equipped with a battery, a mechanical movement has a winding movement. By turning the crown you wind the movement so that it starts to run. You have to do this about every 30-40 hours or else the watch will stop. It is one of the purest forms of watch technology, and perhaps the purest.

An automatic watch needs movement to function. By wearing the watch, the rotor of the movement moves, which tensions a spring. When the spring then relaxes, the movement will run. You can also provide an automatic watch with energy by turning the crown. An automatic watch can therefore obtain energy in two ways, causing it to run, a mechanical watch only one way.

Most major brands such as IWC, Breitling, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Omega etc etc mostly make automatic watches. This is because the automatic technique is a pure form and it is easier to use than a mechanical watch. It winds itself up when used. If you have several automatic watches, of which you only wear one or a few, you can of course use a watch winder to wind the other watches and always have it ready to wear. A watch winder simulates wrist movement, which keeps the watch running. Handy and fun to watch!

The advantages of automatic watches

Automatic watches have a great appeal for watch enthusiasts. As described, the automatic technique is one of the purest forms and is also many decades old. In addition, it is of course a beautiful form of technology given the many parts of the movement that all have to work together perfectly to lead to a good time display.

The technique is an important advantage. In addition, the fact that you never have to use a battery is an advantage. The movement winds itself with sufficient movement, making a battery unnecessary. So you never have to install a new battery. As a result, the watch does not have to be opened to insert a new battery, whereby the watch loses its water resistance. When the battery of a quartz watch is empty, a new battery must be in the watch, after which the water resistance must be carefully checked. After the battery change, the watch must be properly waterproofed again. This is something many people forget and can cause problems when you automatically assume that the watch is waterproof. With an automatic watch, the case hardly ever needs to be opened, so that the water resistance remains intact. Naturally, the case must be opened every few years when maintenance is carried out.

Another great advantage of automatic watches is the exclusivity and originality. With an automatic watch, from Epos, for example, you have something special on your wrist. Most major watch brands are known and become big for their fantastic automatic watches. Brands such as Tag Heuer and Maurice Lacroix have a wonderful history and tradition in the field of automatic watches. A less known watch brand such as Iron Annie also produces very nice watches with very attractive prices. You can already buy an automatic Iron Annie watch from EUR 479.00.

The disadvantages of automatic watches

Automatic watches have many advantages, but do they also have disadvantages? The answer is yes. A disadvantage is the sensitive technology. An automatic movement consists of many parts. If one or more parts do not function properly, the movement will no longer run properly. This usually occurs when the watch has been hit, bumped or dropped. In this case, the watch may stop running or show an abnormality in the time display. In the latter case, the movement must be readjusted.

Because of the more vulnerable technology, maintenance, service or repair is often also expensive. When purchasing an automatic watch, also take into account higher maintenance costs. On the other hand, you save the costs of replacing the battery and making the watch waterproof again.

One of the biggest drawbacks of automatic watches is that they are almost always more expensive than quartz watches. The main reason is the difference in technology. An automatic movement is much more complicated and more expensive than a quartz movement. This is directly reflected in the price of the watch. Is an automatic watch always more expensive? No, there are also many watch brands that produce excellent automatic watches for attractive prices. For example, the Meccaniche Veneziane watches are highly recommended. This Italian brand offers excellent quality and beautiful designs for very competitive prices. In this way, an automatic watch is affordable for a large group of watch enthusiasts.

What makes an automatic watch so much fun?

A watch enthusiast will certainly have one or more automatic watches in his or her watch collection. The appeal of this type of watches is great because of the advantages mentioned above. In addition, the exclusivity and originality that many brands offer ensures watches that are very popular. Just think of the popular Tag Heuer Carrera watches. These watches are timeless, in the best sense of the word, and retain their authentic design and design. This makes the Carrera watches from Tag Heuer an icon.
Watch enthusiasts are often also interested in cars, motorcycles, boats and airplanes. They are interested in the technology inside the automatic watch. We like automatic watches so much because they are a perfect combination of interesting technology that is actually very old, but is still the benchmark today.

Often watch brands that produce automatic watches are also more interesting in terms of tradition and history. Just think of Breitling watches. This Swiss brand has a wonderful history and produces very high-quality watches that will last generation after generation.
If you have several automatic watches, it is best to wind them in a watch winder. The revolving watches in beautiful watch winders, from Paul Design or Benson, for example, is a beautiful sight. Today's watch winders are real eye catchers and interior pieces that also wind all automatic watches so that they are immediately ready to wear. As a watch enthusiast, you should definitely take a look at a watch winder, if you are not already using one.

Our favorite automatic watches

There are of course many beautiful watch brands that make automatic watches. But if we have to pick a few personal favorites, it is the automatic watches from Epos, Meccaniche Veneziane, Iron Annie and Tag Heuer. All these brands have different designs and prices. Tag Heuer is a prestigious brand from Switzerland, just like Epos. Iron Annie watches are made in Germany and are very affordable. Meccaniche Veneziane is in between in terms of price. These watches have a clear Italian origin.

The nice thing about these watch brands is that they all produce automatic watches in their own way. One brand with Swiss movements, the other with Japanese movements. We do not have to explain the appearance and class of Tag Heuer to a watch enthusiast. Epos is a Swiss watch brand that produces sporty and classic watches with Swiss timepieces, so you are assured of quality. The nice thing about an Epos watch is the attractive price. For a Swiss made watch from Epos you can already succeed from 1000 euros.

The German Iron Annie produces more classic watches with a Japanese automatic movement. The emphasis is on a nostalgic look and affordable price. Meccaniche Veneziane has quite modern and sporty watches in its collection. With prices from 495 euros, this Italian brand is a very good choice if you want to wear a quality watch for a competitive price.

Conclusion

If you love watches, you have certainly considered buying an automatic watch. You may have one or more automatic watches in your possession. The choice for an automatic watch is actually very logical. The advantages of automatic watches certainly outweigh the disadvantages. With such a watch you wear a piece of pure technology and originality on your wrist. In addition, you can choose from many different brands, for example from Switzerland, Germany or Italy, which manufacture beautiful watches. But good watches are also made in other countries.

In terms of budget, there is also a lot of choice. It starts at around 300 euros for a good automatic watch. But you can also look at a Tag Heuer Carrera watch that costs a few thousand euros. There is a lot of choice in between. In any case, always choose a brand that uses a Swiss or Japanese automatic movement in its watches. These have proved to be of excellent quality and very reliable. Avoid a watch with a Chinese movement… Better pay a little more for good quality, because a defective automatic watch is of no use. This only results in more costs!

After wearing an automatic watch, you probably don't want anything else. If you become as much a fan of automatic watches as we do, make sure you already have some savings. Because the more you pay attention, the more fantastic automatic watches you will see! An addiction is then born :)

Why is a Swiss made watch still the best choice?

Posted on 28 September 2020 at 5:09 PM

For anyone who understands quality watches, it is no secret that Switzerland is known as the watch country pur sang. Swiss made watches stand for quality, reliability, solidity and durability. Switzerland is home to a large number of watchmakers and brands with an understanding of their business and a passion for the trade. In general, quality, innovation and the use of high-quality materials are paramount for these brands. A watch brand may only bear the Swiss made label if it meets high requirements and conditions. You know in advance when you buy a Swiss made watch that you choose quality. Watches from Switzerland are often a bit more expensive due to the origin and the quality, with such a product you get absolute value for money.

Tag Heuer Carrera watch

A Swiss watch is provided with a good movement, which can be seen as the heart of the watch. After all, this ensures that you are provided with an accurate time display and that your watch continues to run correctly. Beautiful well-known brands from Switzerland include Breitling, Rolex, Omega and Tag Heuer, but also brands such as Fortis and Cornavin are of Swiss origin. These brands aim for nothing but perfection and that is what you can expect from a Swiss made watch. As required, the timepieces of Swiss made watches are of Swiss origin and are also built into the watch case here. It is also an obligation for a Swiss made watch that the last inspections have been carried out in Switzerland and in addition at least 60% of the development costs must be made in Switzerland.

Besides the extremely high quality, there are of course more reasons why you would choose a Swiss watch. For the real collector, for example, the collection is of course not complete without a real Swiss watch. A piece of status can also play a role in this. With a real Swiss made watch on your wrist you show that you have taste. A Swiss watch is not only of high quality, but a lot of attention is also paid to a piece of aesthetics. A Swiss design is therefore stylish and elegant, whether it is modern or classically designed. Various Swiss brands offer both cool and sporty models in the collection as well as more classic designs. Consider, for example, the Fortis brand. A brand like Escada has stylish and classy ladies watches in its collection that are a real eye-catcher. A Swiss watch is timeless and will therefore not just go out of fashion. There is a suitable Swiss watch for every personality and taste, to match almost any outfit.

For the sports enthusiast among us, it is certainly worthwhile to delve into the Swiss watch. Because real sports watches are also well represented within this segment. Consider, for example, good diving watches. Brands such as Fortis and Davosa offer very good Swiss made diving watches for the real enthusiast. Swiss brands also offer very beautiful pieces with regard to the pilot's watch, often with a hint of history and nostalgia. The true pilot's watch enthusiast will certainly find his favorite watch among these, because we also see a diversity in appearance and design in this specific area.

In short, you choose a Swiss or Swiss made watch if you go for quality and are willing to invest in a sustainable watch because you want to enjoy it for a long time. In addition, it is actually a must for the true enthusiast and/or collector of watches to be able to wear a real Swiss watch. Whatever reason is decisive for you, a Swiss made watch is an exceptional piece that you will enjoy for a long time and that you can wear with pride every day. And for a sporty purpose, you are certainly at the right place at the Swiss branch of watchmaking. In fact, the question is not why you would choose a Swiss watch, but rather, why not? There is quality, and so is the diversity in appearance. Regarding the price, we also see clear differences per brand and it is therefore already possible to become the owner of a Swiss made watch for a reasonable price.

If you would like to purchase a Swiss watch, take a look in our webshop! Here you will find an extensive range of Swiss watches with the corresponding warranty and service. You can't get lucky with brands like Fortis, Escada, Cornavin, Glycine and Tag Heuer. And if you have any questions or need professional advice, we are happy to help you.

What is a watch winder?

Posted on 22 September 2020 at 10:57 AM

The watch winder as a watch accessory for automatic watches is becoming increasingly popular. This accessory is suitable for winding one or more automatic watches that you are not wearing on your wrist at that time. A watch winder is handy, functional and it also looks nice.

In this blog article we will take a closer look at this watch accessory. What is a watch winder actually? How does a watch winder work? Why do you need a watch winder? Do you absolutely have to use a watch winder if you have an automatic watch?

Benson Black Series watch winder

Watch winder, the solution for automatic watches

Mechanical watches use a spring to drive the movement. These types of watches must be wound by hand every 32-40 hours to ensure continuous operation. A more advanced version of the mechanical wristwatch is the automatic or self-winding watch that uses a built-in rotating mechanism to tension the spring. The rotational movement is created by random wrist movement of the wearer of the watch as he or she is engaged in normal daily activities while wearing the watch. For example during sports, walking, working or cooking.

As long as the watch is worn, the spring remains tensioned and the watch runs continuously. The spring stores enough energy to provide the watch with energy and can therefore display the current time. However, if the spring is not tensioned, the watch will stop. In other words, if you don't move enough or don't wear the watch, the watch will stop running. It simply comes to a standstill. To prevent this, you can for example, opt for an Orbita watch winder.

Many automatic watches not only display the current time but also additional functions such as day, date, moon phase, world time zones and even leap years. These functions are difficult to set when the watch is stopped. In addition, it also takes a lot of time and you must proceed with caution. Of course, each additional function also consumes extra energy and you have to wind the watch more often than a watch without many functions. Watch brands with good timepieces often have a longer "power reserve". This is nice because then you don't have to wind the watch as often.

Owners of automatic watches often have more than one watch, they are enthusiasts and often interested in the technology. They often have different watches for different use. For example, they have watches for sports, swimming or diving, but also for social activities. You can think of the watch you wear to work, to a birthday, a wedding or just a nice evening in the pub with your friends. A different watch is suitable for every occasion. Of course it is also nice to be able to change watches depending on your agenda and preference. A watch enthusiast often has several favorite watches and wearing only one and leaving the other in a cabinet is a shame.

If you have multiple automatic watches, it can be a challenge to keep all your watches continuously wound so that you can wear them immediately without having to set the time, date and any other functions and then manually wind the watch. Many owners of automatic watches therefore use one or more watch winders as a handy and beautiful accessory for winding their watches. A popular brand for winding multiple automatic watches is Paul Design.

What is a watch winder?

A watch winder is a device that is made to keep one or more automatic watches almost completely wound, so that the watch does not come to a standstill and you do not have to reset the time, date and any other functions. A watch winder uses motors that gently spin the automatic watch so that it obtains energy and keeps running.

Because the timepiece can differ per brand and watch model and has different energy requirements, a good watch winder can turn in different directions and a different number of revolutions per day. One automatic watch is wound on clockwise rotation at 900 TPD (turns per day) while another watch is wound when rotated counter-clockwise at 600 TPD. Most watch enthusiasts have several automatic watches and that is why a good watch winder offers the possibility to rotate in different directions and with a different number of revolutions per day.

Continuous rotation of an automatic watch increases the wear and tear of the parts of the movement's winding mechanism. If you wear an automatic watch you are not constantly on the move. It is therefore important that a watch winder does not rotate continuously, but rather wind the automatic watches in a certain program. Rotation, or excitement, is alternated with pauses. During these breaks, the spring of the timepiece is released. Almost all modern automatic watches and watch winders also have an overwind protection so that the spring inside the timepiece is not tensioned (too long). This prevents wear and defects. A watch winder simulates, as it were, the wearing of the automatic watch by the user.

Watch winders come from different brands, but also in different shapes and sizes. There are watch winders for one watch, but also watch winders for 2, 3, 4 or 8 watches. There are even larger watch winders that can wind up to 24 watches. The watch winder that suits you best depends on how many watches you want to wind, which functions you find important, which brand/model appeals to you and what your budget is. Most watch winder brands offer a wide collection. A good example is the Dutch brand Benson watch winders where you can choose from more than 60 different models.

Benson Black Series Pro watch winder

How does a watch winder work?

As described above, a watch winder simulates the wrist movement when you would wear an automatic watch. A watch winder gently turns the watch, whereby the spring is tensioned in the timepiece of the watch. When the spring relaxes, the watch starts running. We will show in steps how a watch winder works and how you can wind your automatic watches in it.

Connect the watch winder to mains power via the adapter, if it does not run on batteries, such as the modern Swiss Kubik watch winders. Then you take the watch holder or the cushion out of the watch winder and place your automatic watch on it. The watch is now attached to the watch holder or cushion, after which you place it in the watch winder. With most watch winders you click the watch holder in so that it cannot fall out while turning. You have now placed one or more watches in the watch winder.

Now you have to find out which direction of rotation and number of revolutions per day your automatic watches need. There are databases available on the internet that indicate how best to wind the watch per watch brand and model. The rule of thumb is that most automatic watches are wound clockwise at 900 TPD. However, there are exceptions and it is best to find out in advance what your watches need in terms of direction of rotation and number of revolutions. Because if the watch winder with the watch in it turns the wrong way or makes too few revolutions per day, the automatic watch does not receive any energy. The watch will then stop. It is therefore important to set the watch winder properly in terms of direction of rotation and number of revolutions per day. With most good watch winders you can set each rotor individually, so per individual watch. So you can run one watch clockwise at 1200 TPD and the other watch counterclockwise at 1500 TPD. This makes you flexible and you can literally wind any automatic watch, regardless of brand or model.

If you have set the watch winder correctly for your automatic watches, you can activate the watch winder and start the program. The watch will now start to rotate and will pause after a few minutes depending on the chosen winding program. Now the spring inside the watch's movement relaxes, for the watch's safety. After the pause, the program will resume and the watch winder will turn the watches again. This process continues again and again.

If the watch winder rotates with the automatic watches, it is important not to take the watches out. It is best to stop the specific rotor of the watch that you want to remove via the control panel before taking the watch out. Or you can wait until the watch winder pauses its winding cycle. You can safely remove the watch in these two ways. Taking the watch out while spinning can cause stress and possible damage to the motors inside the watch winder. As a result, the watch winder can make more sound and even make noise, spin around jerkily or even break. As a watch enthusiast you absolutely want to avoid this, so always pause the specific rotor with the watch you want to take out before actually taking it out.

Is a watch winder safe for automatic watches?

The most popular accessory for automatic watches is a watch winder. This accessory is not only handy but also functional and gives a beautiful image of rotating watches. In addition, a watch winder maintains automatic watches by providing them with movement so that the oil in the timepiece is well distributed. Keeping automatic watches still for too long is not good for the timepiece. You can better keep automatic watches moving.

A good watch winder is absolutely safe for winding automatic watches. Both the watch winder and the (modern) automatic watch have overwind protection. As a result, the spring of the automatic movement can never be tensioned too much or too long. A watch winder runs in a specific program of rotation and pauses. This relaxes the spring inside the timepiece and prevents stress or wear. The watch winder simulates the wrist movement, as it were, when you wear the watch. When you wear a watch, there are times when there is a lot of wrist movement and times when you hardly move. For example when you read, watch TV or sleep. The set program of the watch winder alternates the rotation of the watches with pauses in which the watch does not move and the spring relaxes. This makes the use of a watch winder completely safe for automatic watches.

The use of a watch winder is recommended when you have one or more automatic watches. With a watch winder you maintain the automatic watches and as the most important advantage they are immediately ready to wear. You don't waste time and effort resetting and winding a stationary watch. You simply take the watch you want to wear from the watch winder and put it on your wrist.

Watch winder on batteries or mains power?

Most watch winders work via mains power where you plug the supplied adapter into the socket. This gives you a continuous energy supply so that the watch winder can provide the automatic watches with energy. There are also watch winders that work on a set of batteries. You can place this type of watch winders anywhere, even where you don't have a socket. You can also easily put a watch winder with batteries in a safe. Most safes do not have a power supply (or this must be specially made), so you can safely wind your watches in a safe with a watch winder that works on batteries. The Swiss Kubik watch winders from Switzerland work on one set of AA batteries that last up to 3 years. This brand is therefore an excellent option if you want a watch winder that works on batteries. Watch winders with batteries often also work on mains power, so you have both options.

Both systems have their own advantages and disadvantages. A watch winder on mains power is reliable and the cheapest to use. With a watch winder on batteries, you are flexible to place the watch winder where you want and not dependent on a nearby socket. But most watch winders, with the exception of a few brands, do not work for very long on a set of batteries, so you always have to keep an eye on whether the batteries are still sufficiently full. Otherwise, the watch winder will stop and so will the automatic watches. Another disadvantage of a watch winder that works on batteries is that batteries are not cheap. If you often have to replace batteries, it's more expensive than with a watch winder that works on mains power.

We believe that a watch winder on mains power is the best option. But a watch winder on batteries can certainly be useful if you don't have mains power available nearby or if you want to use the watch winder in a safe. However, there are also watch winder safes where the safe has built-in watch winders that are connected to mains power.

Where do you place the watch winder?

Once you have a watch winder you have to consider where to put it. Most users place the watch winder in the living room or bedroom. You can of course also place the watch winder in your office or walk-in closet. Everyone has their own preferences and you have to decide for yourself what is the most convenient place for you.

If you put the watch winder in your bedroom, you have to check whether you can sleep when the watch winder turns the watches. This is a device with mechanical parts that produce sound. The degree of sound depends on the brand, the motors, the design and the use itself. Most modern watch winders have a very low sound level that you can hardly hear from a distance of 50-100 centimeters.

The easiest way is to place a watch winder in the place where you like to put your watch on your wrist. One person puts on his or her watch when he gets dressed, another only when he/she walks out the door. We advise not to put a watch winder too much in sight, where the watch winder is visible from the outside. This prevents uninvited guests in the form of burglars. Watches are luxury products and attractive loot for burglars.
