I was disappointed that having paid for the shipping to UAE I was then hit with a $130 customs charge that I had to pay to FEDEX on delivery. This is not a great experience.

When you live outside the EU we deliver VAT free (minus 21%), which means you pay 21% less than consumers living inside the EU. Nevertheless, your national customs may decide to charge import duties and VAT at import in your country. This is the official system for all consumers.
